231 West Patisserie

Start your day at 231 West Patisserie, a modern, spacious cafe with a wide variety of pastries, burritos, and coffee. The seasonal dishes and beverages are a special treat, but the standard day to day fare is equally delicious. The patisserie has plenty of space for indoor seating, a small patio, and charming art and decor. It's a lovely way to spend the morning with a pastry, coffee, and some chill time here.

Pro Tip:

Ask about the seasonal danish - so delicious!

Lower Harbor Ore Dock

The Lower Harbor Ore Dock is not only a quintessential view of Marquette, but also includes the Seven Grandfather Teaching Sculpture by Indigenous artist, Jason Quigno. The sculpture represents the Seven Grandfather Teachings, "Love, Respect, Honesty, Bravery, Truth, Humility, and Wisdom"  carved into seven unique stones. The sculpture, ore dock, and Founder's Landing Pier are a nice walk to start the day in Marquette.

Pro Tip:

Be sure to look up the history of the Ore Dock in Marquette!

Peter White Public Library

On your way over to Third Street, take a walk around the beautiful Peter White Public Library. The front of the building offers a classic design and just around the corner is the "Living the Good Life" mural, a vibrant art piece that emphasizes our connection with nature and the importance of protecting Earth. Detailing trees, fire, water, a turtle, and Indigenous imagery, this mural is an essential piece of Marquette.

Pro Tip:

The mural is not right behind the library! It is off of the corner on Third!

Zero Degrees Artist Gallery

Zero Degrees Artist Gallery has a massive collection of art for view and purchase within. With many local and regional artists, the Gallery offers pottery, sun catchers, paintings, quilted art, woodworking, and so much more. Stroll the aisles and take in the vast talent within one space. Artists are organized in their own designated area and artwork and artists rotate exhibits and selections often.

Pro Tip:

Ask the person working if they are one of the artists and see their personal art!

Bromley's Books

With books on your mind after a walk around the library, Bromley's Books is an easy next stop. A charming shop with book sections for everyone, this small store has a lot of power within it. An incredible selection of books, knowledgeable staff, great recommendations, and items like candles, tote bags, souvenirs, and journals, make Bromley's Books a standout store in Marquette.

Pro Tip:

Not sure what book to go with? Read the staff recommendations or ask the staff-they have great insight!

Blackrocks Brewery

End your day with the Big Waves for Bigfoot mural and a beer at Blackrocks Brewery. The mural details Big Foot catching waves with a brew in hand while getting a “cheers” from a local mermaid. This mural is a preview of the fun to be had within the Brewery its attached to. Located across two "houses" and connected with a front deck and back patio, Blackrocks offers  beer, food, live music, and a space that feels like home. My favorite place to visit in Marquette!

Pro Tip:

Be sure to check out both sides of the brewery, upstairs, and outside - there's a lot of different areas within the brewery!
