City Running

Easy to access and rich in history and natural beauty, these scenic city loops are perfect for casual jogs or pushing the pace.

Presque Isle Loop – 3 miles
Soak up the Fresh Coast with a cruise around the ‘island’. Expansive views of Lake Superior and the midway landmarks of Black Rocks and Sunset Point make this loop a Superior route. Want more miles? Add the Upper Harbor to Lower Harbor stretch (3.5 miles each way) along the lakeshore for a longer out-and-back on the Marquette Multi-Use Path.

Third and Ridge Street Loop – 3 miles
A historic city loop with lake views and classic architecture. Start on Third Street between Fair and Ridge, head toward the water, then link up with the multi-use path. Finish past the Superior Dome and through the neighborhood back to Third Street to close the loop.

Muffin Loop – 7 miles
A local favorite. Start at Marquette Commons, take the Iron Ore Heritage Trail to McClellan, loop around NMU and Tourist Park via the Multi-Use Path, then return along the lake until you're back at the Lower Harbor Ore Dock.

Iron Ore Heritage Trail

Spanning 47 miles across the county, the Iron Ore Heritage Trail runs from east Marquette to Republic. This mixed-surface trail is great for everything from a short shakeout run to a long-distance adventure with sections of pavement, crushed limestone, and unimproved dirt. 

Trail Running

The NTN Trails offer everything from quick loops to rugged long-distance routes. Expect wooded singletrack, scenic views, and elevation gain.

NTN North Trails

BLP Loop along the Dead River – 2.5 miles
Start at Wright Street Trailhead. This mellow loop hugs the Dead River, passes waterfalls, and crosses a footbridge before climbing back via the Penstock.

BLP to Silver Lead to Upper Blue Heron Loop – 6.5 miles
A more technical option with scenic payoffs. Take BLP to Collinsville Cut and continue on Silver Lead to Upper Blue Heron. Return via Electric Avenue and Penstock for a full loop.

NTN South Trails

East and West Greywalls Loop – 4.5 miles
Peaceful and popular. Start at the Pioneer Road Trailhead for a forested route featuring babbling brooks and rock outcroppings.

Benson Grade to Pipe Dream to Carp ‘eh Diem – 5 miles
A rewarding mix of elevation and waterfall views. This loop overlooks Marquette Mountain and Morgan Falls. To see another set of falls, take the Carp River Falls spur off Carp 'eh Diem, adding 1.25 miles.
