Dive into Great Lakes history and Superior views  at  the Marquette Maritime Museum and Lighthouse. This iconic landmark, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, offers a variety of engaging tours, including historical walks, sunrise and sunset tours, and even paranormal explorations for the spirited adventurers.

The Marquette Harbor Lighthouse  was built in 1853. As the oldest significant structure in Marquette, this lighthouse played a crucial role in the development of the Great Lakes iron ore trade. The lighthouse was essential for the safe navigation of ships on Lake Superior

Explore the Maritime Museum 

Open seasonally from mid-May through early October, the ADA-accessible museum  features exhibits on maritime history, shipwrecks, and the U.S. Coast Guard. Notable displays include the Edmund Fitzgerald exhibit, the largest collection of Fresnel lenses in the Great Lakes region, and numerous maritime artifacts. After learning about the local maritime lore, visit the gift shop for nautical books, t-shirts, magnets, mugs, and more.

Take a Guided Lighthouse Tour

Whether you're a history buff or Great Lakes enthusiast, you won’t want to miss out on a guided walking tour. Explore the lighthouse grounds, climb the tower, and walk the historic catwalk, all while learning about the rich history of the Marquette Harbor Lighthouse

Lighthouse Tours are available Tuesday through Sunday from mid-May through early October,  at 11:30 AM, 1:00 PM, and 2:30 PM. Pro-tip: Secure your spot by calling ahead to reserve tickets at (906) 226-2006. Please be aware that tours involve climbing over 45 steps and do not operate in inclement weather.
